A meditation on form and process, these ten modest photograms play with light, chemistry, and illusory space. The images are generated by simple means — a piece of black plastic with a slice in it, manipulated and selectively allowing light to expose the photographic paper. The prints are then developed, stopped, and fixed. In the case of this series, I subjected the prints to additional manipulation, such as secondary exposure, solarization, and reverse-processing (resulting in haphazard colouration, and chemical staining). The title Pyramid evokes a three-dimensional shape which not only cannot exist in the flat emulsion of the paper, but never existed in the first place; it is a conjured form.
